NMS "The 4/10th's of a mile high banked bullring, some call baby Bristol !" It is the place to be for Saturday night bumper-to-bumper action...Stock car racing, the way it should be...East Tenn., Mountain Hillbilly style. When the green flag drops here, you had better hold on to your hat, and your seat. Fans at this track know it well. 14 seconds around the 4/10's of a mile is like watching a tornado going around in a swimming pool. Don't miss it ! Newport Motor Speedway_05-19-2012 : Newport Motor Speedway 05-19-2012 All had fun at NMS Sat. and ALL worked hard. The LMS raced a 40 lap, and a 50-lap race. Promoter Ed Surrett changed the format in the drivers meeting, and the fans enjoyed the change. The schedule was for LMS to race twin 35’s, so it was a treat for the fans to watch these lightning fast Late Model Sportsman do battle for 90 laps. The Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drive, Mod-4, Mini Cup, and Pure Stock were the support divisions. All the divisions are a lot of fun to watch while taking photography. The staff at NMS announced that the track will be closed for memorial day weekend to allow Teams to rebuild from the beating and banging & hard racing on this 4/10th’s of a mile bullring and to allow Fans, and Staff to spend time with their friends and families. While NMS has held six weekend events so far for 2012, the fans have witnessed the high banks of NMS claim several victims this year. Therefore, while NMS takes two weeks off the teams will be ready to jump back into the action on the 9th of June. We look forward to seeing all of you! Enjoy the gallery folks! Thanks. Newport Motor Speedway_05-12-2012 : Newport Motor Speedway_05-12-2012 I usually get images uploaded to a gallery by Tuesday night, but the trip to Kentucky to visit with Mom for a couple of days for Mothers Day was very nice. Some of the photos at NMS in this gallery show mothers receiving flowers from GM Ron Crane. Also, the kids enjoyed racing to get quarters that Promoter Ed Surrett pitched off the flag stand onto the start/finish line. It was a lot of fun to watch these young race fans go after the quarters. Thanks to all the Fans, Teams and Staff for another great night at NMS. All the winners in victory lane received trophies from Xtreme Trophies. Their products are the best in the award business. NMS_2011 Banquet_01-21-2012 : The 2011 Newport Motor Speedway Banquet held 01-21-2012 was a very nice success. Thanks to all the Fans, Teams, and Staff. Thanks to the NMS Promoter Ed Surrett for all he accomplished for the 2011 race year on and off the track. With out all of us working hard together, and the many hours ALL put into the racing season none of the races would have been completed, and nice awards presented for the hard work at the banquet. Thanks to ALL the SPONSORS & ASA for helping NMS for the 2011 year. I personally want to say a few things that will hopefully be in place by the 2012 race season. There will be some changes in pricing for the photography I provide, as well as changes in the wonderful products that are provided by Xtreme Trophies. The pricing for my photography for 2010 & 2011 was very low for all, and I appreciate you folks very much for requesting my photography, plaques, license plates etc. We priced all of the products very low because of the economy and the cost teams had to race. Many have stated to me, "Why do you all sell the products so inexpensively?" I knew we was just braking even with the time etc. It was from our hearts that we priced all the photography, plaques etc. low for you wonderful folks, because we wanted to see NMS be a success, and all needed to be recognized because we appreciated the dedication of the Fans, Teams, and Staff that attended NMS. Autograph Print Examples : These images are examples for prints that were designed for autograph sessions. Some are ideas to give the viewer a concept of how a print may appear for your team. The 2012 rates will be mentioned around Jan.14th or by the 2011 NMS Banquet. Photography Sessions at the track, or another location can be arranged. Designing the autograph print(s), hero card etc. can take time, and that time will be important so your sponsors and your fans will appreciate the quality that will be on the print, or card you choose. I feel it is important to do as much as I can to make Newport Motor Speedway drivers, teams, fans, and staff know that they are all equal. I was crunching numbers in my office in Durham, NC (9-11-01) when a coworker called me and voiced, “There was a plane that…etc” I took an early lunch, went home and turned on the TV and sat in total amazement as the news unfolded. I returned to work and voice to one of my supervisors (retired specialist in the armed forces) known details. I will never forget, as he walked away having not even turned on the news, he stated, “I am not surprised!” Another one of my coworkers, retired Navy specialist, stated, we tried so hard to inform people in power, and they turned a deaf ear to the reports in the 1990’s. My cousin, retired military specialist at Fort Knots, stated to me, we knew, we had some knowledge; however, the people in power did not react to the research and intelligences that was documented. Newport Motor Speedway_09-03-2011 : Another wild, crazy, and action packed night at Newport Motor Speedway. A great car count in the LMS Division. Two hard fought battles with one team winning both races. The ASA-LMS points are adding up and the chase is getting tighter. Watch how this season unfolds, because it is going to be a fun one to watch at this point. Heated action on the track Saturday night gave the fans an eye full, and their ticket price came at a bargain. One fan told me, they got a deal to see everything they had witnessed Saturday night. My goodness, I thought the LMS drivers put on a wonderful show for the fans. More Crashes than one could shake a stick at. My experience doing the announcing for Ron Crane is growing. Ron was away from the track again with his brother Randy. His health declined and Ron needed to be with the family. We later found that Randy passed away Sunday. I know Ron and his family wish to thank all of you for your prayers. I wish to voice "Thanks!" for your kind words while I am trying to balance two exciting positions at the track, I am trying to get as much photography as possible. Thanks to all of the teams that support me and request my photos. Please email or call me for photos, or plaques, and Lic. Plates, I will continue to provide nice prints, plaques etc. as the race year unfolds. Newport Motor Speedway_08-20-2011 : Super Late Model Stockcar Racing at its BEST! Newport Motor Speedway host the greatest ACTION PACKED Racing in the East Tenn. & the Western NC region this side of the Mississippi River, South of the Canada border, and North of Florida! “Would ya bet your next pay check on it? Most would, and DO! These teams in the SLM, and LMS Divisions put all their efforts into the heart of the intent of bringing home a win that exemplifies the true meaning of their sport. I interviewed a fan that had only been to three tracks and stated they liked dirt track racing. I know from experience, watching many dirt races in my life from age eight that some great drivers have excelled from dirt track racing; some of Newport Motor Speedways wonderful talented drivers cut their teeth on the dirt tracks. However, it is proven that asphalt racing has been successful for 100’s of race teams. Some of the drivers I remember from over the years where I have shot photograph at different tracks have gone on to race in NASCAR. I have sat on the pit walls at Orange County (NC), & South Boston Speedway (Va.) and talked with Kyle Bush, Jimmy Johnson, and many others long before they even thought of making it into the big leagues of racing. It is no surprise that some of the race teams will excel into NASCAR that you see race at Newport. What a pleasure it is to be at this track to be able to have fun, watch the teams grow, and with any track draw from the excitement of the fans knowing some have no clue they will be watching some of these guys on TV at some point in the future. I told one drive last year I knew he was going to face the media at some point and not to let it distract his common good sense of judgment at other levels of racing. We will see how well he does and others as they dream of making it in the big time with big sponsors, and big money. All too often, we see a name, and within time, we do not hear anything about them. One I use to be acquainted with knocked the socks off teams in the truck series, and performed well in, what was known as the Busch series. He got a cup ride for some number of years. As I type this, I wonder what he is doing. Well, anyway, if anybody makes it in racing, one has to eat, sleep, and think racing 24/7/365. It is tough, and as I always quote from an old racer that worked with a NASCAR team (Mark Martin), and raced at South Boston… “It’s just old hard racing!” Enjoy the photos, and let me know what ya think. Oh, and for all you drivers that get upset on the track, no matter where you race you will experience the same anywhere and everywhere you travel. Keep up all the hard work and your frustrations will pay in time. Newport Motor Speedway_06-13-2011 : When it rains, it pours folks say… Thunder & Lightning just missed Newport Motor Speedway and all the race divisions and the ARCA Truck Series put on a wonderful show for the fans Saturday night (08-13-2011). However, it was a STORM in the FWD Division with the Twin 20 lap races. The fans as well as the ARCA Teams had a blast watching these action packed BULLRING mountain boys bring the house down. I was surprised at the number of nice comments from all the ARCA teams and staff. Racing at its best! No one can say that Newport drivers do not FIGHT to win!. The ARCA Teams & ARCA Staff really appreciated the kindness of the staff. Newport Motor Speedway seen a class act with all the ARCA folks. “Nice Job ARCA Truck Series!” Smooth racing, fast trucks, & the www.arcatruckracing.com 125 was a hit! On another note: I have had major issues with hardware & software concerns. My images were almost lost in one of my backup drives. The problem started Saturday morning, and at this time, I have achieved some protection of the data. I use multiple backup drives to store, save, and protect the photos I work hard to collect for all of you. The digital age is a challenge at times. Many hours have to be invested in managing the files. Like anything, it takes work to do this the best I can. It was scary to think I could have lost some of my work. Newport Motor Speedway_08-06-2011 : Well.... It is no surprise when it comes to racing at Newport Motor Speedway that something will happen on the track, or in the pits! I try to get as much photography of the action as possible; however, five cameras could not keep up with the wild events this track as to offer. The general admission is $10.00 for adults and the food is GREAT! For the money folks get more than they pay for. Lightning Fast, Action Packed, and should I dare say WILD & CRAZY Stockcar Racing that cannot be beat with a stick! I get scared sometimes thinking what in the world is going to happen next. Talk about hard crashes, Wow, race fans has seen a lot this year. I have never seen as much effort as these teams put into the racing as I have seen at this track. Every track far and wide has nice talent, and experienced race teams. It is the raw, determined, GET UR Done attitudes that is in the blood and minds of these good 'old mountain boys and I do mean when they roll in the gates, its business, and to the fans, it's ShowTime ! Newport Motor Speedway_07-23-2011 : After the race events, so far this year at Newport Motor Speedway, I guess I can say all of us need this next weekend off to be with family, friends and to rebuild thoughts, racecars, & catch up with that needed desire to be back at the track the first weekend in August. With the season well past the half way mark, can you even think that the 2011 Banquet is just around the corner? However, Wait! With eight or so weekends to go for 2011, as much as we have seen, heard, witnessed, thought of, lost sleep over, and wondered about. That excitement will be there again when we return. It will be there in our thoughts when the snow falls this coming winter. After all... It is just old hard Bullring Racing, at its best! So as we all will, and we all will, show up with a smile, and wonder if those hard earned dollars will provide us with that wonderful feeling, knowing that our desires to capture, touch, feel, hear that roar, watch the flag drop, see the fans on their feet, and without a doubt know that the warm atmosphere is created by us, that’s right all of us at Newport Motor Speedway. My focus this past weekend was announcing for Ron Crane. He was away from the track with his brother Randy. Thanks so much to all of you at the track, $740. Was donated to help Randy with his medical needs. God Bless ya all ! Filling in for Ron was a wonderful opportunity, my first time announcing. I promoted sponsorship a lot, and for good reason. It really is about you. We want this track to be our home track for a long time. Its fun, it is great to be there on Saturday nights. Why else would most of us drive 75 +or- miles to a track other than… it’s were we belong. Were we live those hours at the track and in our thoughts on the way home. Were we all will…. Newport Motor Speedway_07-16-2011 : Images from Saturdays race events (07-16-2011) will be posted by Monday night / LMS, SS, & Mod Four Divisions Well, as to be expected, the action is always different at Newport Motor Speedway, and the turn of events catch most by surprise. The LMS Division twin 35's and the LMS Trophy Dash were three nice races. The fans enjoyed the bumper to bumper, trading paint, beating and banging of the lightning fast LMS Cars on this 4/10th of a mile BullRing! Newport Motor Speedway_07-01-2011 : Newport Motor Speedway saw fireworks in the sky and on the track Friday night 07-01-2011. The divisions that raced were SLM, SS, FWD, & Mod 4, Everyone had fun as the SLM twin 50 lap races were jamed with beating and banging, bumper to bumper, trading paint action, and then some. Folks came to see the races from several states while on vaction. Thanks to Mike & Heather "all the way from Engelwood, Fl. for showing up at the track for their first race event at Newport. Newport Motor Speedway_06-11-2011 : Newport Motor Speedway's racing divisions for Saturday 06-11-2011 included, LMS, SS, FWD, Mod 4, Legends, Mini Cup. Wow, What in the World Happened Saturday Night? The atmosphere was more exciting for Fans, Staff and Teams than most could keep up with. Everyone thought we had seen wild racing events until Saturday night! I did not know about half the time where to point my camera. Talk about a ticket worth every penny. What was your experience like as the night unfolded? I have to say, I talked about it all the way home. I told someone on the phone Sunday afternoon, that Saturday nights event is why I shoot photography at Newport Motor Speedway. This 4/10th of a mile Bullring hosts some of the greatest short track action one can find. I have said this before, and I will say it again. Folks, if you have been to as many racetracks up and down, and across the USA as some of us have, I am here to tell you, and I will voice to your face, this venue in East Tenn. Is second to none with all the action that happens from one moment to the next. People are saying the economy is a concern in E. Tn. w/13% unemployment. Dog Gone It, call someone, and bring them to a race. If they are a race fan, they will appreciate the fact someone goes out of their way to get them to the track to enjoy an evening of stock car racing. Thanks and enjoy the photography! This high banked track is a wild ride for the most experienced drivers in the business of stockcar racing. Beat up, banged up, tore up, burned up, smashed up, you name it. For the price at the gate, there is more action on the track and more happening at Newport Motor Speedway than folks can even comprehend from time to time. Newport Motor Speedway_05-28-2011 : This week has been one to remember! I spent several days in Ky. with my Mom. We had to place her in a nursing home care faculty/rehab because she fell and broke her hip. She is doing ok. Newport Motor Speedway should be named Newport Motor Excitement Speedway. I cannot believe it, after shaking my head in surprise, and watching the fans as they absorbed the action of the twin fifty LMS races Saturday night. There was harder racing on the track then one could shake a stick at. The yellow and red flags were waving right & left. The fans got their money’s worth and more as the 18 LMS cars battled on the track like cats and dogs. All the divisions that race always put on a nice show for the fans. As always, the food in the concessions was in command. Thanks to all you folks for working in the heat to provide the fans, staff, and teams all the food at the track. It is appreciated. Newport Motor Speedway_05-21-2011 : The seven race events at Newport Motor Speedway on Saturday 05-21-2011 were as expected, just old hard bullring racing at its best. There is never a dull moment when folks attend a race at this track. As soon as one drives through the gate until folks drive back home there are always thoughts of returning the following week. The Rolling Thunder Modified Series Rolled into Newport again this year to do battle on this 4/10th mile high bank track. The #32 & #53 Cars fought like a cat & a dog for the win. All the Newport divisions always bring fans to their feet. It is hard to catch all the action in photography. You have to be there to see it unfold before your eyes. A special thanks goes out to the special needs staff, and members that attended Newport Motor Speedway this weekend. You folks are GREAT! The photos show some exciting moments for these wonderful and talented individuals. Thanks to the speedway staff, the mayor of Newport, and Nesbitt Racing for their appearance Saturday morning at the home of these folks, they were so surprised. It was a lot of fun for all. The chance for these folks to make the race events, have the drivers to sign their race tee shirts and hats just made their day more amazing. Thanks to all the Newport staff that work so hard to bring racing to this lightning fast speedway. Remember to thank the folks in the concessions for the nice food. I want to have one of those hot dogs now, and its 5:45am. Thanks to all the race teams that drive to the track to race their hearts out. This is a sport like no other; you have to have a heart and a passion to do it week in, and week out. When you hear “that’s just racing” well, I always tend to have an emotional feeling with that quote. You have to admit whenever that quote is mentioned most know something just happened in and around the track, and the quote reflects a mindset that surrounds racing and with that quote you except whatever it was and move forward. Newport Motor Speedway_05-14-2011 : As I type this note at 6:00am Monday morning, I just thought how dedicated most of us are to the sport of stock car racing. I was telling someone recently that Newport Motor Speedway has some characteristics like some historic race tracks do. This track brings back memories from my younger years. I have been to a lot of race tracks as most have, and since I am about to turn 50 years of age, It just so happened to hit me, as a stated recently, it was 40 years ago when my dad took me to my first race. Back then many tracks were new, some a few years, or no more than 20 years old. Newport Motor Speedway was built around 1972 I was told. It was a dirt track at first, and later was paved. As you view some of the photos in this gallery just think about the history. There are some photographs hanging in the race tower that were made some time ago. I wonder if in time any of my digital images will be floating around after 20+ years. I hope to capture a story in almost all the photos I take, or as the old saying states, “One photo can say a thousand words”. Enjoy this gallery and think about the times when you were young that is if you are old enough to remember those days when racers run what they brung. (Brought does not rhyme with run) just in case some of you are too young to have heard that comment. See ya all at the track folks! Oh, remember to ask someone, or bring some kids to the track. After they leave, they will want to come back to witness some bullring racing that will capture their attention and that will create thoughts of them racing at some point, as it did me at age 8, and the history of those days lives in me, just as it will live in them. Newport Motor Speedway_05-07-2011 : Finally, I have completed this gallery! Last weekend was full of excitement. The ASA staff was wonderful. “Thanks Dennis and Dan! With all the action in each division Saturday night, it turned out to be a great race event. Nice car counts, wonderful FANS, food…Those Hot Dogs, the folks in the concessions are cooking fools! The food is great, Good Job ya all! I spent Sunday with Mom in Kentucky for Mothers day, we returned to NC and the next night my sister called to inform me Mom had fell and broke her hip. She is in surgery as I type these comments (Wednesday night) I will keep you all posted… As the night unfolded at Newport, drivers were awarded a plaque from www.XtremeTrophies.com in each division to the coolest looking car voted on by the ASA staff. Harold Crook the promoter for Lonesome Pine Raceway in Va. Visited the track and was impressed with all the fans, staff, and teams at Newport. Thanks to Harold, Ed and Ron now have a great relationship with www.thepineraceway.com When Newport Motor Speedway is not scheduled to race one weekend, take a drive and visit the Pine. It is a nice track. You may even see a few Newport teams race at those times at the Pine. Thanks to Brenda Lynn for her great gift baskets, she created for the race fans for mother’s day. What a surprise, some had little time before Sunday to buy a gift for their Mom because of busy schedules, and Brenda was able to help with those nice gift baskets. Newport Motor Speedway_4-30-2011 : Talk about a crazy night, I am here to tell you the truth. There are shorts tracks everywhere in the USA, and very few have the characteristics and kind of racing you will find at Newport Motor Speedway. My girlfriend Brenda stated to me that last Saturday was the most crashed up event she has witnessed. I told her she more than likely has not seen anything yet. Last Saturday was the third weekend of racing at Newport for the 2011 season. The Late Model Sportsman Division put on a show Saturday night that left the fans wondering what was going to be next. I made a comment on the Speedway web site that stated, The action at Newport Motor Speedway was like watching a Wild West show down on TV Saturday night! The fans viewed unbelievable turns of events, crashes, lightning fast racing, and heated battles on and off the track. Some heard the cup series (NASCAR) had a wild night at Richmond (RIR). Well when it comes to Newport Motor Speedway all I can think is 99.9% of the fans would say, LET’S GO RACING AT NEWPORT. Below you will find images from the Late Model Sportsman, Street Stock, Modified Four, Front Wheel Drive, Legends & Mini Cup Divisions. Please call or email me if you need photography completed for a session at you race shop, sponsors location, or at the track. I also will provide images on CD for a price you cannot beat with a stick. Ask some of the drivers. Sample photos of each race have been posted in each gallery. I may shoot up to 800 to 1,000 shots per race event. It takes a lot of time to prepare the selected shots that will hopefully put a smile on your face, and create memories for a long time. Your sponsors will like those photos as well. I cannot believe how many photographs I see in stores that were taken many years ago, and the sponsor on the car was just getting started. Newport Motor Speedway_04-23-2011 : Fan Appreciation Night at Newport Motor Speedway was a great success. All general admission was free for the fans. Folks came from far and wide. The five divisions that raced were Late Model Sportsman, Street Stock, Front Wheel Drive, Modified Four, & Mini Cup. The night was full of surprises. Along with the 50/50 ticket for cash, kids had a nice Easter egg hunt. Newport Motor Speedway_04-17-2011_UARA Stars_S.S._FWD_Legends : First Race Day of 2011_April_17th - Rain/Weather shifted race day to Sunday. The day was very nice, warm, sunny, and all four races in each division had fans watching the action as every lap was simply good old hard short track racing. I have to say I could not stay away from the good food at the track. Stockcar racing and good food go great togeher. Newport Motor Speedways staff, drivers and teams help to make this track "The fastest high-banked 4/10th mile bullring in the world" I read it myself on the new sign posted at the entrance. My Daughter Susie : This gallery is dedicated to my daughter Susie from me, her father. This gallery is a Father’s Day gift to me and to have some fun with Susie. The images of her were taken over time. Most just scanned, not edited, cropped and posted as they are. The memories I have, like any parent is invaluable. I hope as the photos are viewed, some will make you smile, and others make you laugh. There are a few of these images that, when I view them, I cannot help but find a tear on my cheek. Susie currently is attending college. She will be studying public relations, political science & law. She hopes to become a corporate attorney for her career. Newport Speedway_09-25-2010 : Anyone would have to agree that Saturdays Races at Newport Speedway was wild as two alley cats fighting over a chicken leg! Wow, the BEST Short Track Racing for the price any fan can find this side of the Mississippi river. I would estimate I have been to racetracks in 10 states and folks I am telling you the truth this track has its own characteristics that will add to racing history. As a few of us sat on the pit wall Saturday night, I stated this is good old hillbilly racing at its best. I think David Austin made the same comment on Newport Speedways web site. However, can we all agree on that fact? I grew up in Kentucky watching dirt track racing, my Dad took me to my first race in 1969. I remember racing my hot wheels, and putting together model racecars as a kid. My cousin and I skipped out on our baseball team to watch a big dirt track series race in the mid 1970’s. My uncle and Dad took us, as they both knew we wanted to go. We had to sit on the bench at our next baseball game, LoL! My cousin and I, still attend races with our girlfriends to this day. We enjoy stockcar racing very much. I hope you enjoy the photos in this gallery! I remember as far back as the early 1970’s stockcar racing has always been a wonderful experience. I hope the images I capture tell a story that fans, drivers, teams and track staff can and will remember for some time. One of my coworkers just the other day told me…Back when was I young I got a job working in the concession stand selling hotdogs in the pits at Asheville Motor Speedway, and I remember Bob Pressley chasing another driver down and…. Asheville Motor Speedway_Monument Unveiled_Ceremony : Asheville, Buncombe County celebrated part of its heritage 09-23-2010 at the site of the former Asheville Motor Speedway. The unveiling of a monument chronicling the history of racing in the county drew a large crowd at Carrier Park on Amboy Road, similar in size to the thousands who came to Amboy Road for four decades of racin'. There was a lot of laughter, hugs, tears and plenty of racing stories at an event that had the feel of a family reunion. “The racetrack is dead, but we can't let it die in our hearts or memories,” said Mickey Allen, who was a promoter and part owner at AMS. Newport Speeedway_09-18-2010 : Welcome race fans, drivers/team members, Newport Speedway staff, and others! I wish to thank all of you folks that have requested my photography. It is truly amazing the response I have received from folks. I get a kick from people that email me just to say thanks for my hard work, and compliment just one photo. It makes my day. Since the start of this web site in late April 2010, I have had over 53,000 views on the site. The photography keeps me busy in my spare time, and I have a lot of fun. I do have to take time to spend with family and friends on some Sundays, so the galleries may not be completed by Monday night. I hope you all enjoy these shots, and please post a comment with a photo you view. Newport Speedway_08-28-2010 : Lightining Fast Racing - Does this phrase describe Newport Speedway? You bet it does, and the impact this track has on folks as well as the whole environment at Newport brings fans back to watch the action. Some mad, some happy, someone’s driver won, someone’s driver was wrecked. The sun is hot, the rain poured, and the crowd stands up and yells at a race car going 100mph. Drivers and teams in the pits get crazy. Money is spent, lost, little is made. Driver meetings are full of questions, rules are tough, and so are NASCAR rules. The food at Newport, the service, cannot be beat with a stick. Ya got a love em! Well….. Welcome to this short track bullring that sorts out the men from the boys, women from the girls, and true track fans from the TV fans. Check out the photos, there is the proof. Why do I have to run in the pits? To get the shots you are viewing in this gallery, besides, I shoot by myself! I miss so many nice shots because I cannot be in two locations at the same time. It is amazing the times I am asked, did you get that shot?” I try to get to a location as fast as I can to provide a photo of action on the track. I hope to be able to have someone help me shoot in the pits in the future. David Austin provides photos for Newport Speedways web site. He does get some nice shots! In addition; you will see his shots on Newport Speedways facebook page. Also folks can upload a photo to the facebook web site. There are so many people with cameras today. All of us that shoot photography work hard to capture that shot that will tell a story. That photo should make you smile, it should make a statement, and touch you in some way that you just have to have a copy. Newport Speedway_08-07-2010_PASS Series_Allison Legacey Series_Newport Divisons : www.Newportspeedway.com Wow, What an evening of STOCKCAR Racing! The car count was GREAT! All the races were Very Nice! If you missed this event, only the folks that attended can tell you, don't miss the Oct. PASS Series event. I asked several drivers in the PASS Series. "What do you think of the track here at Newport?" The answer every time was, it is really nice, and FAST !!! The fans were surprised when the SLM PASS Series took the track with a full field. When the Green Flag dropped, fans were on their feet. When the cars dove into turn one on the first lap, it was a mad house racing bunch of experieced drivers going for the win. Congratulations to Ryan Blaney (Dave Blaneys son) for getting the win. Also to Tyler Hill for the Allison Legacey race win. Taylor Nesbitt (Mart Nesbits daughter) got her first win in the Mod Four Division. Greg Stephens took the checkered flag in the FWD Division. Jerry Williams Jr got his first win of the 2010 year in the Sportsman Division, and Tyler Worley walked away with the SS Division win. The Fans enjoy the action and the hard racing these guys bring to the track evey race day they run. I have enjoyed attending the events at Newport Speedway since my first visit at a PASS Series race in 2008. To be able to do some shots for SpeedWeekly and Newport is alot of fun. As I become a better racing photographer I always get into the stands and mix withe the fans. Most Speedway photographers I know may do this very little. The FANS make this sport happen, and I can say Newports Fans are second to none. As I've stated before, I been to many race tracks, and all the fans make the sport, and each track successful. Newport Speedway 06-26-2010 "read comments below" : It was another nice evening at the 4/10th high back lightining fast Newport Speedway Saturday night. I hope these images help all the Fans, Teams, and Staff to remember the nice hot weather, racing, and great food those folks make and sell at the food stands. Newport Speedway is one of the most exciting high-banked tacks in the SE folks, I will tell you I have seen a lot of race tracks, and I like calling Newport my home track. I live in Candler, NC so Newport is really the closest track to where most of us live in this area. I have heard all kinds of race stories about different tracks as most of the teams have. I can say Newport Speedway is full of fun, action, excitement, and fast stockcars. Of course there are a few bump and runs, trading paint, spins, crashes, but do most of us go back, “sure we do” and I will kept shooting photography at Newport as long as it is fun. Newport Speedway 06-05-2010 "read comment below" : Note: editing and getting shots ready for the galleries on this site and for SpeedWeelky.net takes some time. So here is some fun facts about my photography weekends .Would You Guess I May Take Between 600 To 800 Photos Per Race Event (One Day) That is sometimes a 6 to 8 hour day. Editing some photos may take several minutes. preparing shots for SpeedWeekly each week at the PC, may Involve hours of time. I estimate at least 30 hours per week is spent with my photography. That is, taking the time to get the shots, editing, answering emails, phone calls etc. I honestly have to say, I truly enjoy the sport of Stockcar Racing, and being able to photograph the events that I attend is truly a blessing. You may have waited for the images or a gallery to be posted from a race. Just think, I may be editing that shot just for you. So enjoy the images in each gallery, and remember, email me and tell me about your favorite photos, and if you wish, a CD can be made with lots of the shots you like. Newport Speedway_UARA Stars_Legends_FWD_Street Stock_FANS & STAFF_05-29-2010 : Wow, what a fun night at Newport Speedway ! These four races were action packed, and another wonderful attendance. The FANS are GREAT! Everyone should be proud that this Speedway is one of the best short tracks for those fast high banked speeds and bumper to bumper racing. Please tell the staff what you think about the track, you never know your idea just may help bring more race fans and teams to this 4/10th of a mile BULLRING to enjoy stockcar racing at its best. Newport Speedway 05-22-2010 : It was nice to be back at Newport Speedway Saturday night. The traveling and work for Speed Weekly has been very rewarding. My hopes as a photographer is that the magizine does well, and helps the shorttracks, such as Newport Speedway. I will be at Newport for several races for the 2010 year. This past Saturday night the 22nd was a rewarding experience as many fans voiced to me, "I seen your web site !" Also, Speed Weekly featured alot of my photography from the Rockingham Races. It was nice to be able to show my photos in the magizine to fans, teams, and staff at Newport. I was so thankful to be at Newport Saturday night. Also with my travels (9 tracks to date) I have mentioned Newport Speedway to many people, other media that may have never been to Newport, names in NASCAR, and racers that have never run at Newport. All these folks now have my business card, and also see my web site address in Speeed Weekly, and will see this gallery and other Newport galleries when they view this web site. Enjoy ! Newport Speedway 2009 Track Champions : Welcome Newport Speedway Fans, Teams, and Staff ! Hope you folks enjoy these 2009 Track Champion shots. These are part of the photos that were shown in the side show at the 2009 Newport Speedway Banquet. I will be offering photos for 2010 for you to view, and buy this year. I will be adding those photos though out the year from the races I attend at Newport. I look forward to helping out anyone that needs or wishes to have photography taken. Your Bio

Hi, my name is Keith H. Anderson, Thanks for visting this web site ! I originally grew up in the state of Kentucky (Russell Springs), and moved to Raleigh/Durham, NC some years ago. I currently reside outside of Asheville, NC in the community of Candler, in the upper Hominy Valley near Pisgah National Forest, in Buncombe County.
As you view some of the galleries on this web site, keep in mind that a lot of the shots were taken over time, some over ten years ago. I’ve been shooting digital photography since 1998. A friend of mine bought a Sony FD-92, so I bought one also. I currently use a Nikon D-40 w/two lenses, an external flash, Photo Shop E9 & ACDSee Pro Software for editing. I hope to expand my inventory of Nikon products as time/money permits, but for a light weight camera shooting six megapixel images, I can carry this camera on a hike and all day at a race track and get medium resolution photos that are of good quality .
As a freelance photographer, I have fun getting the best shot as possible. As I always say, if I can get 5 or 10 nice photos out of 100, then I’ve done well for the day.

I wish to express thanks to all the Pro Photographers that I have come into contact with over the years. It’s amazing that I have received so many great tips, and like anyone, we all learn every day. I would also like to thank my cousin Marvin (retired Army Sergeant-Fort Knox, Ky), He gave me the camera that I’m currently using. I would like to thank the Smug Mug staff also because I have emailed tons of questions to them and the answers keep coming.
